Cherry production changes

FRUITS

Winter is far behind us yet its results on cherry production have become visible; for this season, the production of specific cherry varieties, such as Crystalina, Georgia, Larian and Giant Red, were reduced by about 30%. This year’s mild winter combined with the freezing temperatures in March, led to a reduced by 40% cherry production, in the region of Pella. Cherry production was also reduced in the region of Kerasia, yet, on the positive side, the quality of the fruit’s size was very good.

Production numbers

Until the end of June, PROTO Fruits distributed a total of 1600 tons of cherries, about the same amount as last year. The countries that the cherries were exported to were Italy, United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany.
