Pseudaulacaspis Pentagona (White peach scale) infested trees in the Pieria region
FRUITS
According to the Center of Plant Protection and Quality Control of Thessaloniki, peach trees and kiwi trees of the Pieria region did not manage to escape from the infestation of white peach scale. The data showcase that white peach scale has developed large populations that have settle on the trees’ branches, sprouts and fruit, weakening the tree and downgrading the quality of its fruit.
The PROTO guidelines:
- For the peach tree: the best solution against white peach scale is the use of chemicals such as paraffin oil 96% (trade name: Biolid EC, Catane EC, e.t.c.) + pyriproxyfen 10% (trade name: Admiral 10EC, Zulu 10EC κ.ά.). Dosage: paraffin oil 96% 1 l/ 100lt water + pyriproxyfen 10% 30 c.c./100 lt water. Best applied: right before the blossom process begins.
- For the kiwi tree: the best solution against white peach scale is the use of chemicals such as mineral oil 81% (trade name: Triona 81% EW). Dosage: 2l./100lt water. Best applied: after pruning.
Note: Do not spray with paraffin oils or mineral oils when temperatures plummet to 4C° or below.
